Whip It Good!

MTV reviews The Hives at Irving Plaza. Also NY Times reviews the Devo performance at Summerstage last Friday.
The Roots have made it to #4 in the Billboard charts with the release of The Tipping Point with more than 109,000 copies sold. Jimmy Buffet debuts at #1 after his latest LP, License to Chill, sold more than 238,000 copies and Usher is at #2 for the sixth straight week. (link)
Getting back to The Roots for a bit, Questlove posted this message a while back on Friendster:
"okay. jokes. but this IS friendster. and we are going to demonstrate how malcolm gladwell's "small idea" can make a difference. most people think that we came on the scene via "that erykah song" or "the rock joint". meanwhile you should see the look of embarrassment on people's faces when i tell them that not only have we been a professional group for 12 years--but this is our 7th ALBUM! (9th if you count the two EPs). yep. 12 years of being the best unheard ignored misunderstood band in the history of music. "too pretentious" "boring artsy fare" "underground" "corny" --- of course there are some posts that state the opposite too. so im not posting like a grouchy ol man.His bulletin board post had a bit more to say but the message eventually got across and they made it to #4. There was a party last Saturday for the album where Questlove was spinning. We didn't go. Instead we joined Janine & Jen for a girls night out.
im just tryin to change the course of history via this website (the coolest thing about this site is most of you 300+ thought this was an alias. (proving what hours on the road can lead you too--i am determined to go platinum on my friendster basealone!)"
