Siren 2004
Another year. Another Siren adventure. The Village Voice's Fourth Annual Siren Music Festival, didn't have such strong lineups as years past but we didn't let that stop us from enjoying this FREE yearly event. The plan for Saturday was to leave at a reasonable time to catch The Thermals and maybe The Fiery Furnaces. Just to let you know, we didn't make it out to Coney Island until after 2:45 pm. We missed The Fiery Furnaces set which Kelefa Sanneh from the NY Times described as "irritating" (link). The Fiery Furnaces has grown on us. Last year we did find them annoying but a few months passed away and realized how great they were. Their new album Blueberry Boat is fantastic. You should pick it up. Now!
After missing most of The Thermals set, Aeki Tuesday and Janine decided to catch at least 15 minutes or more of every band thereafter. We took a walk on the boardwalk. We are happy to report no sightings of the RetroPod were found. The next band were The Constantines. The sound was really bad so we didn't pay too much attention. We hurried over to the main stage to catch TV on The Radio's set but only listened to a few songs before heading back to the Stillwell Stage where we stayed during most of the day. The Fever never fails to impress us. Their live shows are always hot! Somehow the next two bands seems like a blur until Trail of Dead took the stage. Everyone around us were so excited to be there. What we recalled fondly were the instruments being thrown about on stage and various water bottles flying across our heads. Amazing! Sorry Death Cab For Cutie, maybe another time. Trail of Dead rocked our skirts off.

We ran into Bryan and couldn't resist taking a picture of him.

The ride back home
We all looked like zombies afterwards. There was an after party in the hook and also at Lit but we were worn out by then.
