Last year Catbirdseat treated us to Hipster Bingo and The Modern Age had a bit of fun by playing Hipster Bingo at Siren Music Festival 2003. How many hipsters do you think will parade up and down Coney Island's boardwalk wearing a RetroPod iPod case?

For $100 you too can be retro! How cool you will be carrying your iPod around in what seem like an walkman. No one would jump you when get off the train demanding your iPod but they may point and chuckle in your direction. The RetroPod case is made from a vintage Sony Sports Walkman. You can buy a kit for $20 and diy. BUT as the RetroPod site states, "Supplies of old Walkman are limited, particularly because the oldest, coolest-looking models are the hardest to find."

To control your iPod you will have to open the Walkman case and you will not be able to use your iPod remote with the RetroPod case. The diy kit is definitely not for kids, yo. The case is somewhat waterproof but don't try to be hip by scuba-diving with it. Get you hands on the lilipod instead. We do not think this will be popular with the hipster crowd. It's just too retro and too much of a good thing (?) is never good.
