Smith Remembered
One year ago today, Elliott Smith died. Today Aeki Tuesday remembers a man who meant so much to the music world. We were introduced to his music back in 1999 but didn't really start listening to him until 2001. We recall each song and what we did when we heard it for the first time. On the couch next to a friend, at a music store, or riding on the subway. Elliott was always there. The poet of anguish and sadness with the angelic voice speaking to us. Today we celebrate his songs, his life and his legacy. Elliott Smith's posthumous effort, From a Basement on a Hill, was released earlier this week.

Crooked spin can’t come to rest
I’m damaged bad at best
She’ll decide what she wants
I’ll probably be the last to know
No one says until it shows
See how it is they want you or they don’t
I’m in love with the world,
Through the eyes of a girl,
Who’s still around the morning after - Say Yes
