Postal Service LP / Outkast Movie in Trouble / Trail of Dead Album Delayed / U2 & iPod Deal?
Sub Pop Records will be releasing an LP version of Give Up by The Postal Service. This release is a fancy colored, 180 gram vinyl two disc number with Give Up on LP one and all the b-sides on LP two. It also comes with a two sided poster with the ep art on either side and a really cool booklet with lyrics and fancy pictures.
The B sides of this LP will include:
1. there's never enough time
2. we will become silhouettes (performed by the shins)
3. such great heights (performed by iron and wine)
4. suddenly everything has changed (flaming lips cover)
5. the district sleeps tonight (dj downfall persistent beat mix)
6. such great heights (john tejada remix)
Sub Pop will also release the first US best of collection from Saint Etienne on November 9th. Titled Travel Edition 1990-2005, the album will feature eighteen tracks spanning the band's entire career. It will also include two previously unreleased tracks.
Oukast's The Love Below movie in trouble? An insider adds to The Scoop, "The director (BRYAN BARBER) seems to have lost control, but HBO can't fire him because he's a big buddy of OutKast - practically the third member of the group." Sources also say that the movie is "weeks behind production and millions of dollars over budget." This is what happens when Andre 3000 becomes a diva.
Trail of Dead's album has been pushed back. Worlds Apart will be released on January 25th. Interscope decided to hold it until the new financial quarter to protect it from the bevy of late-year releases by big-name stars (Eminem's Encore, Destiny's Child’s Destiny Fulfilled, et al) and give it the push the label feels the record deserves. We say they are worth the wait. Track list includes:
"Overture"
"Will You Smile Again for Me"
"Worlds Apart"
"Summer 91"
"And the Rest Will Follow"
"Caterwaul"
"Classic Art Showcase"
"Let It Dive"
"Russia My Homeland"
"All White"
"The Best"
"City of Refuge"
U2 and Apple Computer Inc. are expected to announce next week that they have signed a deal to sell custom iPods (link: Billboard). How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb will come preloaded on iPods that will be available during the week of Nov. 23.
Aeki Tuesday was unaware that Melissa Etheridge was battling breast cancer. She is recovering from two operations. Etheridge said on her website that a tumor and lymph nodes were removed and that she will have chemotherapy next. She has cancelled upcoming tour dates to undergo treatment.
