Oh My Rockness!
Last weekend we took one of those Chinatown buses to Philly (Today's Bus). We wanted something cheap and fast. What we got was cheap and "why is this bus going to Washington D.C.?!" After about 2 hours en route to Philly, it became obvious that we were told to get on the wrong bus and were 1 hour away from our nations capital. No matter that our ticket was collected before the bus left stating a Philly destination. Aeki Tuesday and two other unfortunate souls had to get off in Baltimore and purchased a one-way Greyhound ticket to PA. Being this is our first time taking this bus system (NY office) we noticed several errors:
1. No English speaking employees in sight.
2. Ticket collecting system is screwy as they do not check for ID as stated in online site. Also, employees cannot read English as they thought "Philly" meant "Washington D.C."
3. The harassing of passing pedestrians to purchase a ticket was a bit too much.
Overall, we did not get a refund. But we must stress that the Today's Bus in Philly is quite organized and the employees are personable, friendly and speak English.
The next night was Rilo Kiley at The Starlight Ballroom. The venue being super hot reminded us of the Knitting Factory. By the time, we entered the ballroom Tilly and The Wall had already performed. Now It's Overhead were the next band on the list. They didn't garner any excitement on our end. Their stage presence is not exciting and wished we saw Tilly instead. Rilo Kiley were awesome as always. At the end of the show Jenny Lewis did a little tap dance number with the gals from Tilly.
Here are some images (Photographer's Note: No offense to Blake, Pierre and Dave but it was all about Miss Lewis that night) :

We've been made aware of a great site called Oh My Rockness. You should check it out and plan your CMJ week. It's our new favorite!
