Sound It Off

Ooh, Brad Pitt does have good taste after all. On Saturday (May 22), BBC Radio 2 will broadcast "Lost Boy -- In Search of Nick Drake," a new documentary hosted by Brad Pitt, who describes himself as a "huge admirer" of his records. "When Radio 2 approached me to get involved in this project, I was delighted to be asked and pleased that I was able to fit it into my schedule," he says. (link: Billboard)

New Joy Division film in the works. The film will be based on the life of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis is to be made. The film is being made with the help of London-based Neal Weisman, who is friends with Factory Records former chief Tony Wilson. The film is expected to start shooting next year. Dance music star Moby is to act as the film's musical advisor. There are no details of cast as yet. This sounds exciting. We saw previews of 24 Hour Party People but never saw it. Is it a must have?

Yesterday, we headed to Caroline Distro headquarters to catch The Fall play. We've never listened to The Fall's music before going to last night's short but entertain show. After the second song, we became a fan of The Fall and will pick up their new LP, The Real New Fall LP...Formerly Country On the Click. You should too. Below are some of the highlights.

After that show, we caught DJ Shadow's screening of In Tune and On Time DVD at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema. We sat in awe watching some of DJ Shadow's sets. The genius behind playing his intricate tracks "in tune and in time" are mind-blowing. The screening will continue in Los Angeles & San Francisco (May 25th & 26th). West coast readers should RSVP now. Here are visuals of the event.
