Bands We Like: The 5.6.7.8's
Our pick for this month's Bands We Like are the 5.6.7.8's. We never heard of the 5.6.7.8's until seeing Kill Bill Vol. 1 and then listening to the soundtrack. The 5.6.7.8's are an all-girl group from Japan. The members are Omo (bass), Salad (drums) and Yoshiko (vocals, guitar). Their sound is '50s surf/garage music and don 50's regalia and backcombed beehive hairdos. They have energy just like Sleater-Kinney and panache reminiscent of The Cramps. There has been reports of disbandment but with the success of Kill Bill, tours have been lining up for these gals. They recently finished a tour in Australia. Catch them if you can.
