Too Big For Their Britches
You've heard about the controversial Tsunami Song that Hot 97 ( The “Miss Jones in the Morning” show on WQHT-FM) played which caused several deejays to be fired and a 1 million dollar donation was made to a relief effort. On March 4th, there will be a rally at Union Square from 3 - 6 PM to stop racist Hot 97. The rally is stating that 'Hip Hop is not Hot 97.' This rally is about bringing the true essence of the Hip-Hop culture back to the masses. The site goes on to say: We are here to call out the multibillion dollar commercialization of "Hip-Hop" and show the world that it is not what Hip-Hop culture is all about.
Guest speakers include:
Afrika Bambaataa
Rosa Clemente
DJ Jazzy Jay
Roxanne Shante
Ishle Park
Aeki Tuesday hasn't been listening to Hot 97 since before the Tsunami tragedy, we had to find out from third party about the song. Now it seem that the deejays are back on the air and the one who didn't want to participate in the song, Miss Info, is still missing from the group. If you are not a fan of Hot 97, you may not be after reading what this station has done in the past. Where Hip Hop Really Lives has compiled a list of Hot 97's atrocious actions.
The all mighty Kanye West wants compensation for posing on magazines on covers. This is beyond laughable. The bright light from his various diamond necklaces may have caused him to start feeling omnipotent. Beyonce was sporting the same amount of diamonds last night. Hopefully she won't make that as part her daily wear and start making similar requests. We hear that Playgirl Magazine is offering Kanye beaucoup bucks to pose nude. His ego must be flying off the radar.
"These magazines make money from ads and subscriptions. But I know that part of what drives subscriptions and ads is who these magazines put on the cover. So if you're putting me on the cover and people are buying your magazine because of me, why shouldn't I get paid to be on that cover? You are going to have to pay me to do magazine covers now!"
