Movable Hype 2.0 / The Cloud Room & Other Passengers
Last night we ventured to Knitting Factory to check out Movable Hype 2.0. Unfortunately, we could only stay for 2 bands. The Cloud Room put on a good effort. We couldn't help but compare the singers voice to Bono of U2. At some point, we feared they would do a cover of 'It's A Beautiful Day.' That did not happen. The singer strutted on stage like Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing. Their song Hey Now Now (mp3) was catchy and reading from their bio: "If the hooks are catchy enough, the beats danceable enough, the outfits sufficiently coordinated, they reason, the kids in the mall will buy it." Presently The Cloud Room has no upcoming shows listed.
Other Passengers put on a very good set. We've been admiring their EP, Is It Nothing to You, All Those Who Pass By?, for a few months but haven't been able to catch one of their shows. If you haven't listened to the EP yet you should and then see them live. You won't be disappointed. Aeki Tuesday wasn't disappointed last night.
