Grammys!

Aeki Tuesday only saw 30 minutes of the Grammys last night. 30 minutes seemed to be a fair amount of time since we barely saw last year's Grammys. Online news sites such as Yahoo News kept us up to date with everything we missed.

First we must discuss the Fashion. White is the new Black. From Alicia Keys to Christina Milian to Janet Reno to Anthony Hamilton. Everyone wore white and wore it well. Li'l John brought his cup filled with crunk juice. As Kitty Power pointed out, Jack White is channeling his inner Man Man. No one does it better than John Mayer. He may have had fashion tips from Steven Seagal. Scott Weilan looked nice though we would have never thought that was him. He looks so different after rehab. Maybe Sheryl Crow not work out so much. There was a napster spotting last night.

Now on to the performances. The opening act was okay but Alicia Keys did well as always. Again the trio that is Black Eyed Peas (yes we know they added her but this site will not recognize her in the group) wowed the crowd. They went home with a Grammy and our stomach turned. It would have been good to see them 3 years ago when they were making good music. J.Lo and Marc Anthony paid homage to Spanish soap operas with their performance of "Escapemonos". Melissa Etheridge performed with Joss Stone in a Janis Joplin tribute. In related news, the Janis Joplin estate approves contest for vying to become the next Joplin. Five contestants will audition before a panel of judges in San Francisco with the hopes of becoming the new Ms. Joplin. No word yet on which top network will pick up this show. There are already two Joplin biopics in limbo. The Gospel According To Janis stars none other than Pink (?!) and Piece Of My Heart will star Renee Zellweger . Zellweger said that Joplin came to her in a vision when she was deciding whether or not to do the film. Tough luck for Brittany Murphy, who was signed to portray Janis but the film cancelled due to music rights clearance problems. Maybe she should have said that Janis Joplin came to her in a vision.

The Awards. Basement Jaxx and Wilco both walked off the stage with awards for Kish Kash and A Ghost is Born respectively. We are still in shock over the Maroon5 win. Loretta Lynn won after 33-years. We are still in shock over the Maroon5 win. John Mayer won for Best song of the Year. Brian Wilson finally picked up his first Grammy. We are still in shock over the Maroon5 win. Zach Braff went home with a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For A Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media for Garden State. No win for Franz Ferdinand or Joss Stone. Ray Charles "Genius Loves Company" was posthumously crowned with eight trophies.

View the rest of the Grammy winners here.

Here are some mp3s to last you through today.
