Talib Kweli Signs With Warner Bros.
Talib Kweli signs with Warner Bros. In addition, Warner Bros. has signed an exclusive deal with Kweli and his partner Corey Smyth to market, promote, and distribute new artists the pair signs to their label Blacksmith Music Corp.
The first release on Blacksmith/WBR will be a new solo album from the fantastic female MC Jean Grae.
Both Kweli and Grae are currently at work on their first Blacksmith/WBR CDs with release dates planned for Spring 2006.
Kweli has also inked a deal with the Big Ten Conference. The PSA features an original track by Kweli that he composed for the occasion and that is titled “Welcome to the Big Stage.” It is presently airing on CBS and ESPN during Big Ten conference games, which started on Jan. 3.
