Time For A Picnic!
Looks like NY is going to have some great weather this weekend. It's also an excellent time for picnics. Here are a few Aeki Tuesday recommendations for picnicking.
1. The Swedish Midsummer Festival @ Wagner Park:Join us in Wagner Park for a Swedish celebration of the solstice, and experience a unique way of rejoicing on the longest day of the year. Take part in decorating the maypole and learn traditional folk dances. Make midsummer wreaths and dance to the sounds of Swedish fiddlers. Enjoy a parade, children’s games and Swedish delicacies.
Music by Paul Dahlin and Akta, Swedish folk fiddlers. Folk Dancing with Barnklubben Elsa Rix and Swedish Folkdancers of New York. Swedish Family Dance with dances led by Jeannie Widman. 6:30-8 pm

2. Celebrate Brooklyn - Canaday Day in New York!
Canaday Day kicks off a day early at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Celebrate Brooklyn will be hosting a musical event with The New Pornographers, Stars and The Sadies.
What is Canada Day? Here's a short history: The history of Canada Day began on June 20, 1868, when a proclamation was signed by Lord Monck, the Governor General. All of Her Majesty's loyal subjects throughout Canada were called upon to join in the celebration (later known as Canada Day) of the anniversary of the formation of the union of the British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1st. The July 1st holiday was established by statute in 1879, under the name Dominion Day.
