The Alanis Factor
Alanis Morissette is celebrating her 10th anniversary of Jagged Little Pill. She will be releasing an acoustic version of Jagged and will do a small summer tour. Jagged Little Pill Acoustic will be sold only at Starbucks for the first six weeks ruffling retail feathers. Those retailers have threatened not to stock the new album. Alanis addressed the issue stating she's the "kind of woman who will enjoy both a Starbucks coffee and a coffee from an independent coffee shop. I love both." [via Canada.com]
Do you recall her deal with MP3.com in 1999? MP3.com sponsored her 1999 summer tour with Tori Amos and was offered 50k in cash but chose to take it in the form of company stock. Alanis sold more than 100, 000 of her shares, of the 329,328 she first acquared, after MP3.com went public raising the value of her shares to millions of dollars. This Alanis factor will mean beaucoup bucks in her pocket.
