People Get Ready



The Village Voice has an article on Hip Hop Rappers and the NYPD. It's not uncommon for the NYPD to show itself when some sort of Hip Hop influence show is in the mist. Case in point, a month ago, a benefit show featuring Apollo Heights and Cipher, took place. Around 2 AM, 25 police cars (!!) surrounded the facility and arrests were made. NYPD claims that a tip was made regarding an open container being held by a partygoer outside 968 Atlantic Avenue. Does an "open container" warrant 25 police vehicles at one place? There might have been more pressing issues in the early morning where those officers would have done a greater good.
