02 September 2003

take a hint

It looks like summer is officially over. Did we really have a 'summer' this year? The weather was good for a few days but it was mostly rain rain rain. Anyways, I hope you all had a great Labor Day. This past weekend my sister treated me to a pre-birthday shopping spree and then we went dancing at Tribe. Fun! The next day, I was up bright and early for a picnic sort of thing at Prospect Park. The weather was good to us but it was a bit on the cold side later on that day. The whole day was spent lounging around talking, eating veggie/turkey burgers, drinking coronas and playing games. At 9pm I said my farewells and headed to Williamsburg to catch the last TVOR performance at LUXX. Here is my rant about local up-and-coming bands, KNOW HOW TO HAVE A QUICK SET UP. It's not so much to ask for the people watching you perform. I think you will give them a treat by setting up within 10 minutes instead of lets say 40 minutes. I mean, for Pete's sake, I don't want to wait until you finish talking to your boys in the front or getting that girls digits. I don't want to see you drunkenly ask for your 6th beer and then proceed to throw it in the crowd. Who do you think you are?! The Rolling Stones?! Calm the heck down. Play your music and get off the stage. There's no need to sign autographs because you are not that big yet. You're not playing at the Bowery Ballroom, Roseland or Irving Plaza. Chill!

On to the raves. Television On The Radio was as expected; they were very good live. I especially liked their performance of 'Satellite'. When these boys come to your town you better be there. They will play one last time in NYC before heading out on tour. SEPT 13th 'sup party @ Piano's w/ Apollo Heights + Vietnam.

It's official Stiffed will be playing at Piano's this Thursday. There will be a screening of a fantastic film called Afro-Punk. Here's the info:

Doors open at 6:30
- 7:00 - Afro-punk: the "rock n roll nigger" experience.
-8:15 - Stiffed
-9:15 - Suffrajet

Come all. You'll have a good time and you could wish me a happy b-day.

Humm...it looks like the end came to the Anti Blog Blogger.
