15 July 2003

do be down

What a weekend! The weather was perrrfect and the skies were clear. It was one of those weekends that I've been craving for so long.

Friday Night
Went to see The New Pornographers at the Bowery Ballroom. I got there around 9:30. The place wasn't crowded at all. I feared that the show wasn't sold out. Come on It's the New Pornographers!! I asked a bartender and he told me that one of the opening bands, I am Spoonbender, cancelled. The other band, The Organ, a Canadian band, sounded a little Smith-ish to me. I love The Smiths so more points in their favor. The New Pornographers were hott . I danced as much as I did at the Sleater-Kinney show back in February. I was so close to the stage and I cursed myself for being camera deficient.

Saturday Day/Evening
Went thrift store shopping in Williamsburg. I bought a new book at this bookshop hoping to see a particular Brooklyn band member working there but alas he was not scheduled that day. Took the L to Union Square and walked around the East Village. I saw the movie Blue Car starring the much talked about Agnes Bruckner. The movie was the typical student falls for english teacher type. I wasn't disappointed in the movie and it was good to see Frances Fisher in a role again.

Saturday Night/Chez Fiammi Party
I met up with Fabienne and we headed to Fiona's party. The party was in full swing by the time we got there around 10 pm. It was like a blogging community there. I think that there should be a massive Bloggers/Friendster party this summer. It must be done. It shall be done. I enjoyed the rooftop conversations I had with various folks whilst smoking a cigarette and by 11:50 after drinking some Canadian Whiskey I was just a wee bit tipsy. There were more people coming in as Fabienne and I were leaving. Damn, Fiona how do you do it?! I quite enjoyed myself.

Sunday
Sleep is good. It is a very good thing. I watched a taped 20/20 Angelina Jolie interview and went back to sleep yet again.

Now that I'm all rested I'm ready for this weekend. I'm planning out my day for Siren. There are so many bands I want to see that day how am I going to do it all?

I've updated the live from nyc link. It wasn't working before. I'll be adding more things to it later this week.
