tunnel vision

For the past week or two NJ Transit has been less than stellar. Trains delayed for 30 or so minutes making me late for an event or late when returning home. I am not a happy person if I get less than 4 hours of sleep.

This past weekend I went to see a show at Prospect Park. I missed the first act due to the above mentioned NJ Transit problems but got to check out Blackalicious. Before the show I ran into an old classmate from high school on the F-train. I couldn't believe the randomness of the whole thing. We found out that we still live in the same town and promised have dinner in the future. Also, Saturday night marked The Rising's closing. Gentrification and other issues prevented this Park Slope hangout to prosper. A farewell party planned that night drew out the locals.

Sunday was heaven. The weather was so beautiful. I had planned to meet up with Brenda that day for an outing in Manhattan. We wandered around the city a bit and decided to catch a movie. We saw Spellbound. This movie is too funny. I recommend it to anyone. You have to see this movie and will not be disappointed. After the movie, we found a nice little Italian restaurant and people watched as we ate our food. I wish I had more days like this. Today is horrible with all this rain. blah.

Has anyone been watching America's Next Top Model hosted by Tyra Banks? I've heard about it and finally caught an episode last night. There is this one model called Adrianne who speaks so slooooooowly. It reminded me of watching Gia. when Gia was being interviewed by 20/20 about her comeback but she was all drugged up. Elyse and Robin got on my nerves. The judges are harsh and cruel just as the modeling world. I give this show a big F-.

The Fever boys are touring with Hot Hot Heat. What a yummy line up?!!? Just one more month until the Siren Music Festival.

Hipsters, Friendsters and fellow music lovers Jenyk and Melody Nelson are hosting Vicious at Sin-é on Tuesday July 8th. Be there!

Beckham's image is as ubiquitous as his popularity in Japan, where it sells products from engine oil to chocolate, beauty salons to mobile phones.
More on Beckham Mania from BBC News.

I have yet to see Bend it Like Beckham but I've heard it is a hilarious movie. Has anyone else seen it?

So J.K. Rowling is crying over the death of one of Harry Potter's friends. Meanwhile whoever pulled this off is very happy if not caught. If you are fanatic and don't feel like waiting for the Late-night Harry Potter parties this Friday then make your way to a local Brooklyn health food store. You might be lucky enough to buy Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on sale. I not yet finished the first Harry Potter book and the likeliness of me starting now just in time for the fifth book is crazy.
