I went to see Mates of State and Rainer Maria at the Bowery Ballroom yesterday. After consuming various alcoholic beverages, I called this person that has been on my mind for the last couple of days and left her this rather long and silly message which was erased accidentally when I pressed a button on my cell phone. I was sort of relieved and proceeded to enjoy myself at the show.
Palomar, the nyc based band, was really good. I bought their latest cd and a "dumb" shirt ("My Girlfriend is in Palomar"). Mates of State came out next. It was my first time seeing them. Jason was all smiles and giving Korin lovey dovey looks. They did a lot of new songs in their set. "Doesn't he make a good Nico," Korin says as Jason finished singing These Days. MOS are coming back to nyc in March at N6 to finish their tour. Rainer Maria was as I expected. Kyle Fischer looks like he was having so much fun. Smiling and gyrating all over the place. Before Caithlin De Marrais opened her mouth several girls around me did the "oh my god, she's so hott!" fixed stare. (Small observation: William Kuehn wore these super tight pants. He was walking weird to and fro. Rock star!) . Lack of sleep (6 hours in three days) + too much alcohol consumption + palomar/mos/rm show = a very tired me.
