. : We all need little bit of CODY CHESNUTT in our lives

I woke up yesterday and checked my WeatherCast to find out it was nine degrees. Nine degrees! Granted it was only ten-thirty in the morning but damn. I stayed in my very warm house until I absolutely had to leave. Fabienne and I were to meet up with Janine later on Saturday to see Cody ChesnuTT perform at BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music). We got there and made our way to our seats. The audience was mostly older people who came to see Bobby "Blue" Bland. We did spot a few young people and felt a little better. After 15 minutes of waiting for the show to start, we found out that we had sat at the wrong place. We actually had orchestra seats and not Mezzanine. After finding our correct seats, we were really happy that we were so much closer to the stage. Then Cody came out with his band. I was shocked at how tiny he was. He was amazing and an amazing live performer. The only bad part about the performance was that we were sitting and not standing. Cody's music makes you want to move. He was so inspirational. Cody is f*cking amazing!! Janine and I were a little worried that the audience would be a little put off by some of his songs. If you have heard the 36-track of The Headphone Masterpiece then you'd know what I mean. Damn it he didn't do the songs that we wanted him to play (i.e Smoke and Love, War Between the Sexes). His set was only for an hour. I watched Fabienne getting excited while Cody performed. She didn't know if she would have liked seeing Cody live but there she was moving along to the music and loving the animated drummer of Cody's band.

Cody talked about how people in the industry didn't think that anybody could be successful in making a cd on a 4-track. He proved them wrong. By the way, he is an autodidact. Look Good in Leather is a good song even though Cody did a clean version of it. There was this older woman sitting in back of us who kept making a comment of how amazing he was. "Imagine him playing with B.B. King and "Lucille." He would have been great. I love that man!" Again CODY was amazing!! I don't think I could say more about how amazing he was because he just is. Cody did a lot of starts and stops while playing. We were not sure when or not to applaud. Here is some of the songs from his set list:

Upstarts in a Blowout
The Most Beautiful Shame
Serve This Loyalty
The Seed
Eric Burton
Look Good in Leather

I have little a dilemma. On Jan. 31st, Cody will be performing in nyc again!! I have tickets to see Rainer Maria and Mates of States at the Bowery Ballroom. I really do want to see Cody again. I don't know what I am going to do.

We did not stay to stay to see Bobby Bland and I know I will probably be kicking myself later after I download a few of his songs. We decided to go to a bar afterwards. That bar happened to be Ginger's. The music there didn't suck although I was worried at the beginning when some country song was playing when we got there. I got my ass kicked playing pool and got very tipsy. Fabienne got hit on by this girl named Jen. I couldn't believe it but she didn't mind. I think. All and all it was a fun night.

Christina from MiG has a new design on her site. Also MiG has some upcoming shows lined up in starting February 1st. Janine was nice enough to get me one of their buttons.

If you care at all, the Golden Globes Awards is on NBC now. Earlier at the GG's, Jeff Goldblum handed out an award to someone, I can't recall but I am remembering watching Independence Day and seeing Jeff and Will Smith walking together and I swear Jeff was walking as though he was on a catwalk as a Victoria's Secret model.
