The night Franz Ferdinand played at Volume seemed to be one of the hottest nights in the past two months. Volume is huge and perfectly air conditioned for seeing a band on a hot almost summer night. The Oranges Band and Sons and Daughters were the opening bands. We've seen The Oranges Band play a few times but still can't get into their music. Meanwhile, Sons and Daughters are a hot band that makes you shake-shake-shake what you've got hidden behind those jeans. They've have just signed to Domino Records. Their first record Love the Cup will have a full release in the UK on July 12th. Listen to their mp3's:

Around 12:40, Franz Ferdinand came to the stage to a cheerful welcome from the crowd. The boys rocked and awed throngs of tush shakers, fists wavers, and sweaty bodies. Although we weren't expecting perfection from these boys, we noted a few blunders and such in various songs. FF were enthusiastic and engaging on stage. 'Darts of Pleasure' came on and had everyone hand clapping along to the "Ich heisse super fantastische" part of the song.
There is a fire in meThe last song from the quartet was 'This Fire' and it sure felt like it. A few audience members were drenched in sweat. It was a fine night for dancing. It was a fine night for seeing Franz Ferdinand. On to the pictures:
