RIAA And Your Fingerprints

Biometric - bi·om·e·try - Pronunciation: bI-'ä-m&-trE - (n) : A measurable, physical characteristic or personal behavioral trait used to recognize the identity, or verify the claimed identity, of an enrollee.
The RIAA is hoping that a new breed of music player which requires biometric authentication will put an end to file sharing. Biometric vendor VeriTouch Ltd. (U.S.A.), and Sweden's Thinking Materials joined forces to create iVue: revolutionary, patented hand held audio/video player capable of biometrically encrypting and decrypting digital media content. The iVue "eliminates piracy and prevents illegal copies to be made of music, videos, and video games delivered wirelessly or on mini-DVD disk". The authorized user authenticates via a fingerprint and can then use iVue to listen to music and watch DVD-quality videos, including wireless content delivery and connectivity to existing peripheral A/V equipment. The image pictured to your left is the MFS-1 USB Hub VeriTouch designed which is the "world's first multi finger biometric terminal allowing for high speed capture and verification of all ten fingers, using an advanced programmable USB Microcontroller interface and multiple USB fingerprint sensors," according to the VeriTouch site. We could not find any images of the iVue since this news is based upon the first working prototype. This is all pretty nifty from a technical standpoint but would you, the consumer, purchase such a thing that requires authentication before use?
