02 March 2003

. : Things You Call Fate

Last Friday I went to CBGBs for the first time. It didn't suck. So I'll be back there soon.

The line up for that night was:

BLACK TEA: A CONCERT IN TONGUES

Kokolo
Karen Gibson Roc & Fluid
Stiffed
Shrine for the Black Madonna
Apollo Heights

Stiffed did their thing and they rocked! Got everyone up and dancing.
They did a Clash cover and got more people dancing.

Shrine for the Black Madonna was good but I was taken by their drummer. She was excellent. They played some really complicated stuff and her playing was just tight.
We need to see more woman drummers. Seriously.
I didn't plan on staying after that but Apollo Heights took the stage and was amazing.
I was social enough to meet Kryz from Fairuza who was visiting New York for a bit. It turns out he knew one of the members of Apollo Heights, Mikah, from a while back.

I haven't received my tickets from ticketweb for the 4 shows I'll be seeing in the next two months. The online status indicates the tickets as being delivered but I received no such thing. I will wait another day.

From the Ben Harper Mailing List:
On the March 11th release date of "Diamonds On The Inside", Ben
Harper and the Innocent Criminals will perform at the elegant Bowery
Ballroom in New York City at 8:00pm. The venue only holds 575
people, and is an 18+ show. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at noon
EST via the box office, Ticket Web and Ben Harper Ticketing.

I'm tempted. So tempted to go to this show but I have a scheduling conflict.

I recently discovered i used to believe. Remember all those things you believed in as a child, then you grew up and you realized the truth. I am amused when reading categories such as at home, gown-ups, sex, make-believe, and body functions. Go on and add your own "i used to believe."

So it seems that Aguilera is topping the charts in the UK.

All you Ian McCullouch (Echo & The Bunnymen) fans be sure to mark your calendars for March 21st. His solo album listening party will be held at Red and Black (135 N 5th St. and Bedford Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY). There are going to be giveaways. Guest Dj Anne Brazeal & Dj Oil.
