Band We Like: The Lucksmiths
We thought we would start a new feature on Aeki Tuesday, called Bands We Like. Every month, we will feature a band that has caught our attention. This week we are in love with The Lucksmiths.

The Lucksmiths are Tali White (singer/percussionist), Marty Donald (guitarist) and Mark Monnone (bassist). The Melbourne trio started playing together about 10 years ago after finding a commonality and admiration for The Smiths. Their songs are reminiscent of early Belle & Sebastian, The Housemartins, The Go-Betweens and The Magnetic Fields. Their catchy, cynically lyrical flow of guitar-pop songs reminds us of what love at first sight should be like. Sweet, bewildering and remarkable. We did fall in love with the boys of The Lucksmiths easily. They made us smile. They made us remember ourselves at 14. They make us want to go out and enjoy the warm weather. The Lucksmiths simply make music to hold hands to which is the title track to Why That Doesn't Surprise Me.

If you arose by any other name
You'd smell as sweet
And you'd look just the same
I could never understand you
Hating music to hold hands to
Sometimes something you can dance to
Is the last thing that you need - Music To Hold Hands To
