Tijuana Lady

Image of Gomez at last night's show at Irving Plaza. Thanks in part to the wonderful folks at What's Up NYC, we were able to bypass the $100 scalping prices of the sold out show. A lady by the name of Rachael Yamagata, enchanted us before Gomez took the stage, with her husky, low melodious hooks. Whether it was singing about a lost love, a possible blonde girl who took her love away or a crush on a married man while in a relationship with said lost love, she is a definite artist to watch and don't confuse her for your typical brunette playing piano chick. She also rocks on guitar. Listen to Collide MP3 / Under My Skin MP3 / Worn Me Down MP3. More photos will be posted here tomorrow.

XL and Matador had several listening parties set up for Dizzee Rascal in NYC, CA, FL and DC but Dizzee will be playing his first ever North American shows next month. He's Brooklyn bound on Feb 07 @ Volume and all you cats in Toronto can catch him @ the Mod Club on Feb 05. The US release of Boy In Da Corner is out today, January 20th.

"This one feels grounded, like hanging out on someone's Chicago sidewalk," Common said recently. "After going way out, it's a natural progression for me to come home again. It's more about people and things relative to life." Common talks about his upcoming album, Be. He also credits Ahmir Thompson (?uestlove) for turning around his career. "He enhanced my music and my thirst for music. Ahmir is a genius, man. He took my music to a higher level."

The Cure will be playing the second night of Coachella. This might be one of the few reasons why this site would envy the west coast.

Blonde Redhead has signed to the 4AD roster. Their latest album, Misery is a Butterfly, will be released March 9th. Listen to Misery is a Butterfly MP3.

Ghostface Killah on set of his "Run" video with Jadakiss. He goes on to explain that "Run" is just the street single to his upcoming album, Pretty Tony. The real single is "Toosh" with Missy Elliott. Ghost explains the collaboration with Missy: "As soon as I heard the beat, I heard her on it, so I wrote my part with her in mind. She was hard to get to. You know Missy is busy. I had to leave a message on one of her girlfriends' phones. 'Yo, all I want her to do is listen to it. If she don't like it, she don't gotta mess with it. Just hear it for me, please.' She fell in love with it when she heard it. She had her verse the next day."
