S a i n t E t i e n n e

I went back to work yesterday. Everyone was very kind and sweet in asking how I was doing and such. Got hugs from lots of folks. Even the people I don't necessarily chat with. Throughout the day I felt little nauseous due the iron pills (v. high dosage) I'm taking. The three cheese BLT fajita wrap and the italian hot dog I had for lunch didn't help (I had a big appetite) my stomach but made it worst. Enough about that.

I dashed to Manhattan with Fabienne and did a little shopping before going to the Saint Etienne show at Irving Plaza. Fabs was going to the show at the Bowery Poetry Club featuring da BIPS. I didn't feel like going too early as I am often prone to doing so Fabs and I got a few slices of pie at Penn Station.

I got to Irving and surprisingly it was not too crowded. I considered this a good sign. I like being able to breath and a large crowd would have been a little too much. There would be many dance movements and I am so accident prone. I made my way up the stairs after checking my bag and found a good spot.

Dot Allison opened with an acoustic set. Poor lass! During the third song more people were gabbing instead of listening and enjoying. Case in point. There was a couple standing in front of me and they were all lovey-dovey before the show started but as soon as Dot said that she is treating us with an acoustic set one of them mad a nasty comment. After she finished a song the angrier half of the couple bellowed "Boring!" and then he said it again this time louder. He mumbled some more stuff under his breath. After another song he yelled "Where's the rest of the band?" His boyfriend told him to quiet down but he wouldn't here it. He was pissed at this point. A minute later another person told him that it was rude of him to make those comments. He said that he "paid for his tickets and he can have an opinion if he chooses. Blah blah blah." I focused my attention to Dot. She left the stage with a less than satisfied crowd.

Saint Etienne did a great job in getting the crowd moving. During the show Sarah Cracknell mentioned that they have a film, which played in the projector in back of them, and they hope to have on dvd someday. The film was lots of shots of London, tourist, children. It looked good and went well with the music. Sarah also did a few dance steps now and then. On the left side by the stage, a group of people kept the overall energy of the place by dancing their arses off. Saint Etienne did a few encores and they even covered a Smiths song, Hand in Glove. The crow went wild. I shook my bon bon and then it was over.

I met up with Fabs later and we caught the 12:37 back to jersey. On the train ride home, I shut my eyes for a bit. I opened them a few stops later to find this guy across from me staring as though he was at the zoo. Did I drool all over myself I thought wiping my mouth. A smile crept up at the corners of his mouth and he kept on staring until I got up from my seat at my stop. What a weird man! I got home at 1:40 and went to bed at 2:30. It was an overall great night but I'm too tired to be at work. A few more hours to go and I'm going to see Maroon5.

My sister just emailed me saying that there is a snow storm coming and most likely there will be 2-4 inches of snow tonight. I haven't been watching the news lately and did not know this. I have to remember where I placed my good boots.
