Hova Prez of Def Jams
Antonio "L.A." Reid announced yesterday that Jay-Z is to become President of Def Jams Recordings. The three-year deal will give Jay-Z the authority to "sign a limited number of artists to his own Def Jam-distributed venture, likely under the Roc-A-Fella imprint." (NY Times). Hova plans to sign Foxy Brown as his first artist and sources say that he will be able to have full rights to his master recordings in a few years.
Also congrats to Melody Nelson for getting quoted today in the NY Post about the current trend of local bars offering free booze. Who do you know says no to Free? We onced stood in line for free hot dogs at The Delancey during a Promotional Label event.
