Coldplay Taking A Break?

Last Night at the Brit Awards, Chris Martin accepted Coldplay's second award of the night for Best Album and said "This means so much to us, especially now. It's going to be a few years before you see us again."

He added: "People are fed up with us - and so are we." (Source: Digital Spy)

Coldplay fans are fuming. EMI stocks took a dive. Aeki Tuesday think's it's for the best. We can't wait to spend $219 for their reunion concert in 2012. It's going to be great! See you there.

Tonight Is For Lovers | Peasant Plays @ Sin-e

Today Hallmark tells us we should cuddle with our loved ones, buy dozens of roses and stuff our faces with expensive chocolates. Aeki Tuesday doesn't practice this "holiday" but we do appreciate the impetus. John Donne said it best

Now thou hast loved me one whole day,
To-morrow when thou leavest, what wilt thou say?
Wilt thou then antedate some new-made vow?
Or say that now
We are not just those persons which we were?
Or that oaths made in reverential fear
Of Love, and his wrath, any may forswear?
Or, as true deaths true marriages untie,
So lovers' contracts, images of those,
Bind but till sleep, death's image, them unloose?
Or, your own end to justify,
For having purposed change and falsehood, you
Can have no way but falsehood to be true?
Vain lunatic, against these 'scapes I could
Dispute, and conquer, if I would ;
Which I abstain to do,
For by to-morrow I may think so too.

Peasant will be playing tonight at Sin-e. Lovely quiet songs not of the Hallmark variety will serenade you. Peasant may or may not buy you a dozen roses or expensive chocolates but thine ears will appreciate the beau geste.

J Dilla (Jay Dee) Passes Away At 32

One of Hip Hop's most admired Producer & MC passed away last Friday at the age of 32. The the sad news about J Dilla's (nee James Yancey) death was so unreal.

J Dilla had been living with his mother in Los Angeles since being diagnosed with Lupus about three years ago. He had been on dialisys for two years before being found by his mother. Lupus is an inflammation of the kidney caused by systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a disease of the immune system. Apart from the kidneys, SLE can also damage the skin, joints and nervous system.

The founding member of Slum Village, Dilla produced for acts such as Comon, Madlib and A Tribe Called Quest. Jay Dee's latest solo album, a, was released just last week.

In 2003 he teamed up with Madlib for the critically acclaimed "Champion Sound." That album is still on heavy rotation on Aeki Tuesday's end. Donuts spanning 43 minutes and 23 seconds is hip hop instrumental to it's fullest. J Dilla had planned on releasing another album in 2006 called The Shinning.

According to Stones Throw, scheduled Listening Parties for "Donuts" are still in effect.

Feb 16 - Montreal, Canada
Feb 17 - San Francisco (with Madlib/Sound Directions, PBWolf, J Rocc, Egon)

The 48th Grammy Awards | Live Blogging Part 2

Here's part two of our live blogging of The 48th Grammy Awards. One of the best performances of the night was Kanye West & Jaime Foxx's Gold Digger. Follow links below to view choice Grammy videos.

08:24 Commercial Break over. The Grammy's are having mini interview introduction for each performance. John Legend performs "Ordinary People." Like the song it's just John and his piano.

08:29 After coming back from a bathroom break, a country act is singing onstage. Who is it? We're too bored to find out. Flips to One Tree Hill.

08:33 Finally someone we know. Alison Krauss and Union Station wins Best Country Album.

08:39 U2's Bono announces that U2 is not a rock but more like a folk band. Okay.

08:43 Mary J. Blidge joins U2 to sing One Love. A good effort.

08:46 Crash co-stars Matt Dillon & Ludacris presents Best Rap Album. We pick Common but Kanye will probably win.

08:48 Kanye wins. Why is Kanye wearing shades and gloves? Pulls out a big "Thank You List." The joke is lost with the Grammy audience.

08:55 Footage of Pre-American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson plays. Kelly performs. Who would have thought she would have gotten this far.

Watch The Performance: Kelly Clarkson - Because of You

09:01 Stefani & Billie Joe Armstrong presents Best Rock album. U2 wins. We flip to Lost for a minute.

09:08 Ellen DeGeneres doesn't introduce the next performer. She simply says "Our next performer needs no introduction" and walks off stage. Paul McCarthny performs. We love this man.

09:17 Black Eyed Peas won earlier for Rap Performance by a Duo or Group presents an award. We haven't watched Jennifer Love Hewitt's new show on CBS. Is it any good? No. Okay won't watch it then.

09:19 John Legend wins for Male R&B Vocal Performance.

09:27 Mariah Carey sings one of Aeki Tuesday's favorite guilty pleasure song of 2005.

09:31 Mariah seems to struggle reaching those high notes. Which is a shocker but then she finishes with that 12th octave note we no so well.

09:33 Best Pop Vocal Album... we pick KELLY!

09:34 Kelly wins!! She rushes to Gwen to make sure she doesn't stand up again mistaking Kelly's name for her name.

09:35 Kelly sends a shout out to everyone but her chef. But it's cute.

09:39 CBS 2 news has a Lip Balm addiction story coming up after the Grammy's? There's such a thing as a Lip Balm addiction?

09:40 Hey there's that tall Scientologist lady, Jenna Elfman. Moving on

09:41 Country's favorite married couple, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman performs. Oh wait they're not married yet.

09:43 We're kinda bored and don't know if this live blogging could continue any longer.

09:44 Snack time.

09:47 Got back just in time for the Rap/Sung Collaboration. Jay-Z & Linkin Park picks up the award.

09:56 Chappelle's back. Dave talks about walking away from his comedy show. "When I was a little boy I knew I was going to be famous. I told my Mom I'm going to make to the top of the social economical channel. I'll make it to the top and then go to Africa." Snort.

09:58 - 10:08 The Sly & The Family Stone Celebrity Sing-a-long. Featuring Joss Stone, John Legend, Van Hunt, Fantasia, Frankie J, Maroon5, Ciarra, Will.i.am, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry. [10:00] Is Joss Stone barefoot? We can't tell since our close-captioning is blocking her feet from view. [10:02] We love Will.i.am. Really. [10:04] Sly comes out on stage with a big blonde mohawk. His mic needs to be turned up. His head is facing down on the keys. He really didn't want to be there did he? This is sort of lackluster. Sly walks off the stage while the music still plays.

10:13 LL Cool J talks about Robert Johnson. If you haven't heard of Robert Johnson you must must must buy this album. You'll love it.

10:15 What the hell are you waiting for: Jay-Z & Linkin Park are onstage.

10:17 They are now singing Yesterday with Sir McCartney. The harmonizing is slightly off. Jay-Z adds a few "that's right" throughout the song.

10:25 Bruce Springsteen is on now singing "Devils and Dusts."

10:27 This may very well be the longest time we've spent watching CBS in one night. Wow.

10:28 Let's list obscure mash-ups. Bruce Springsteen and Sigur Ros.

10:30 Springstein ends his song by saying "Bring Them Home."

10:30 Destiny's Child presents Song of the Year. Michelle Williams lost weight.

10:32 U2 wins but there's a Grammy sound problem (it's been happening all night). They played Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" instead of U2's winning song.

10:39 Kanye West & Jaime Foxx are dressed as bandleaders. Cute.

10:42 We want prenup!

10:44 Female step dancers are screaming something. Can't quite make it out.

10:44 Broke Broke Broke against the Gold Diggers dance off.

10:45 Kanye's performance is surpassing Madonna's. We'll since Michel Gondry's Chappelle's Block Party will be out in a few weeks we could relive that moment where we only ate chicken on a stick after hours of waiting for the Block Party to begin. Speaking of which, Dave Chappelle's Block Party will be out on March 3rd in theaters.

10:46 Sting & Sheryl Crow presents Record of The Year

10:47 Green Day wins. Kanye throws down his baton.

10:49 About 8 minutes left

10:53 Terrence Howard talks about Jesse Norman for a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

10:55 Herbie Handcok & Christina Aguillera perform "A Song For You"

10:57 Blinded by Christina's wedding ring.

11:05 Fiona Apple, Common and Chuck D presents Best New Artist.

11:06 Hmmm...John Legend is going to win this one.

11:06 Yep! John Legend wins. Legend's mother is wearing one of those flamboyant red hats you'd see someone wear at a church.

11:10 In Memoriam. We lost a lot of great musicians this year. Wilson Picket, Lou Rawls, Luther Vandross, Robert Moog.

11:17 Bonnie Raitt & James Taylor presents Album of the Year. Nominees: Mariah Carey, Paul McCartney, Gwen, U2, Kanye and the winner is

11:20 Kanye... doesn't win this one. U2 takes home the Grammy. Bono goes to congratulate Kanye.

11:25 A tribute to New Orleans but it's awfully late. We can't last another minute watching this. As we've said before, this is the longest we've watched CBS on one night.
